Montague Lexus carried a darkness inside of him, a huge and nameless hole that seemed to give the impression of 'past' and 'self', but Lex knew little about either. He knew who he was in only the simplest of ways. He heard his own breath rattle in his lungs, felt the pulse of blood underneath his skin, knew that he was mortal and that this was an island and an open pastureland and grass and trees. He knew all the basic things like live and breathe and watch your back, as well as more complicated concepts like talk with others, crack a joke, smile, and how he doesn't want to be alone. Beyond that, he was vacant, as though everything that might have once made up who he was had vanished into thin air or been stolen from him.
Either way, Lex didn't know where he came from or what he was doing here, only that he had washed up on the beach a few days ago and laid exhausted on the sand, too weak to get up. He had slept for two days before finally forcing himself to rise to his feet and stumble across the dunes until he came to a shallow creek that carved through the beach, and he drank and ate the stiff, bitter weeds that grew at its edge and slept some more. Even now, after he'd wandered across the foreign land to this open place, he felt shaky with hunger and dehydration. He dipped muzzle into the swathe of lush, dew-covered grass and breathed out a ragged sigh, the sweet scent of grass and dirt flooding his senses with memories that did nothing to fill the hole inside of him. He remembered places like this one, though others had been there with him, others who were vague, muted shapes that danced just beyond his recollection.
He had many memories of grazing and of vast, grassy fields, but all of them meant nothing, all of them useless to him.
Lex grazed for what felt like hours before lifting his head to regard the land again, wondering if this island was uninhabited, or if maybe if he had wandered onto someone's land and would be kicked off. That was a new thought that he had only just considered. A new, vague memory flitted to him in the form of a statement. Politics are messy, he thought. Don't want to get in any trouble or mess with any royals. Especially being new here. Lex couldn't say what the point behind those thoughts were, but he shrugged it off, wandering farther into the land. Who knew what this place was even like, anyway.
"Hello?" he questioned, legs moving with jerky confidence. His body felt stiff, and he flicked his single ear against the flies that swarmed it, wondering when he'd lost the other one. "Hello?" His voice rose louder, head raised and dark forelock falling into his eyes. He didn't want any trouble, but he was feeling more desperate and out of place the longer he remained alone. Maybe he would remember if he spoke to someone for a while.
And what if you don't? He swallowed hard, shoving the question away. There was nothing he could do about it right now. He'd just have to... buck up and deal.
Even if he felt like he was forgetting more than just who he was, something larger and more essential, something that he had promised never to forget.
ooc. ah! my baby <3 i adore playing him without memories he feels so... fresh. so. this is lex. open for anyone.
